Impact Absorption: Gmax

Playing surfaces that are too hard and do not absorb a sufficient amount of shock will transfer that force to an athlete's body. This results in a wide range of injuries including everything from minor joint and muscle difficulties to serious breaks, sprains and concussions. The shock absorbing properties of a playing surface are measured by a ratio called Gmax where a lower number indicates better shock absorption. According to an ASTM national standard, the Gmax limit is 200, above which a field is considered unsafe. A typical, well-maintained natural grass surface is rated at 80 - 120.

All-weather Performance

The research and development conducted at Limonta’s Laboratories is second to none. It consists of constant performance testing to make sure products are living up to their potential and meeting international standards of performance and safety. Maintaining integrity in sub ambient conditions is an important part of this testing. The table below shows the results from a wear-conditioned sample of SportsPro MF-Diamond turf with Infill Pro Geo in which there was minimal performance degradation in sub ambient conditions and no deviation outside of the typical requirements of FIFA and CEN sports performance standards.

Foot Stability

Foot stability is an important and previously overlooked aspect of most synthetic sports surfaces. Performance tests are done regularly on Geo Safe Play systems to ensure that maximum performance and safety are being achieved.

These pressure readings show how unevenly distributed plantar pressures will cause overexertion of the muscles in the toe, an injury known as turf toe. This traditional injury associated with artificial turf is virtually eliminated by the Geo Safe Play system in that it was designed to respond to athletic movements more like natural grass.
